Jiangsu GuanLong Integrated Technology Launches IMU488M: A Tactical-Grade MEMS IMU for Precision Navigation and Stabilization

The IMU488M integrates a 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis magnetometer, and a barometer into a single enclosure measuring just 47 × 44 × 14 mm and weighing 50 grams. With a gyro bias stability of 1°/h and accelerometer bias stability of 30 μg (measured via Allan variance), the unit achieves tactical-grade accuracy typically associated with far more expensive legacy solutions, according to the company.

The IMU488M goes further by integrating a magnetometer for heading reference and a barometer for altitude estimation," the company stated in its product announcement. The IMU488M is engineered for extreme operating environments, featuring a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C with built-in high-precision calibration and compensation. The IP67-rated enclosure provides protection against dust and water ingress, while anti-vibration design and 1000g shock resistance ensure reliable operation in high-vibration platforms such as drones, ground vehicles, and industrial machinery.

For high-speed data acquisition, the device supports SPI sampling rates up to 2000 Hz with a 200 Hz bandwidth, enabling real-time attitude estimation and closed-loop stabilization in dynamic environments. Communication is handled via SPI (up to 25 MHz) and UART (up to 230.4 kbps), two widely used industrial protocols. Power consumption is rated at just 1.5 W, making the unit suitable for battery-powered and thermally constrained systems.
